Trust is everything #trust & #performance

Trust is the most valuable ressource you have as a leader. No matter who you lead - or what kind of leaderposition you have - it is difficult to lead without trust.  Basically trust is something you have to address - one way or another. To build trust it is important to people around you that they can sense who you are - and what you stand for. Authenticity is always a good start, because people around can sense if you are bullshitting or being honest.

There is an old Greek concept called: Ethos, Logos and Pathos that still works today. Ethos is your character or guiding beliefs, some even say morals. Basically this is your reputation and how much "street credit" other people believe you have.

Logos is your logic. Do you make sense. Can you explain things so it gives meaning. Some people perceive this as being the "reason".

Pathos is your emotions - your passion. People sense if  you have it or not. It can also be your ability to persuade people, or make them listen.

In any case I believe that if you have a good portion of the three things: ethos, logos and pathos - then you can also build TRUST. And then you can move people. So in my humble opinion ALL leaders should work on finding their own balance of ethos, logos and pathos - and not try to be a perfect leader, but "just" lead from within.

How does this sound to you. Does my reasoning ressonate in your head?

What is failing? #nottrying #guts

Have you ever thought about what failing is? So many times in my life I have not been able to achieve the exact goals I have set out to reach.  I know that I am stubborn and hard-working, so I guess other people also experience failure. To me is important to do you best, to fight and not give up to easily. If you really, really try - and then fail, then it is easier to accept your failure.

I have experienced to fail in my job, in my sport and in my private life. Not one single time I found it easy to accept. But I have sure learned from my failures and mistakes. I would even go so far to say that it has made me the person I am today. I continue to fail in some of the things or activities I embark on, but now I am more aware of the possibility of failure without being to influenced by it. I think failure is a part of life itself - and as long as your MINDSET is positive, then you will learn from your failures.

Fear.......#change #fear

Fear of change is a very normal human reaction whether it has to do with your personal life or your professional life. I am also scared of change - especially when it is not myself deciding that things need to change. If it is not my own decision, then I expect the people or the person that needs me to change, to explain WHY og HOW the change should take place. If I do not truly accept the background or reason for change, then I will most likely challenge it. And this is where it gets interesting. Most people do not verbally express that they do not want to change, they may even nod their heads in a seemingly accepting way - but underneath the surface not embracing the change. Only a few percent of the population will stand up and verbally argue against the change, because they do not feel comfortable to share their concerns. They have fear of the consequences. This is especially true for organizations where your job is at stake.

I have become more and more aware of the ability to address change and changing behaviors in the OPEN. To be honest and patient about the need for explanation. The accept that ALL people have different acceptance curves for change, which most leaders know on the intellectual level, but do not internalize on the gut feeling level. Look at John Kotters 8 steps of change. Most people skip a step or two in order to achieve change quicker. My advice is: do not skip any steps. Accept that change is difficult, creates fear in most people and can be easily said, but more difficultly done.

What is your perspective on change?

Trust is everything #trust #teamperformance

Whenever you work with other people there is ONE ingredient that always have to be present, and that is TRUST. If people do not trust you, then it will be difficult to either convince other people of your ideas or have them follow you. Some managers believe in fear as an instrument for leading other people, but it is short term and not effective in the long run. You can go miles and miles with your colleagues, friends or even foes IF they trust you.

So what do you do to make people trust you? Be honest, be personal, say you opinion and have respect for others opposite opinion. Basically people around you can FEEL when you are not honest or not really giving something of yourself, but merely show a shell of who you are. Who would you like to follow to the end of the World? I know that I would follow someone with a vision and an outlook on the World. Or perhaps someone with fire in his/her eyes - to change the World.

I believe that the future will depend on leaders who can build trust. In organizations, in politics and in other matters of life. The future belongs to those who can create trust - and utilize the full potential of the people present - in a team, a company, a town or a country.

How important do you believe trust is in your daily surroundings?

Light in your eyes #happyliving #happiness

Imagine how much you can do in your life when you are motivated and excited. The sky is the limit. You can achieve anything you want - if you know where you are going, are determined and have the guts to follow your heart.

The funny part is that energy spreads. So if you have good energy it spreads - and likewise with bad energy. Have you ever met people where you get totally excited and revitalised when your meeting is over? And vice versa? Try to think of what that particular person was beaming out into the universe. What exactly was it that made you stop and feel the excitement? Something they said, did or was it simply their behavior.

I know that I can influence my surroundings by giving out good energy. Sometimes it just beams out of me - just because I can. And people can feel it.

Can you feel it? And what do you do to get good energy out into the universe?
